It seems people are still interested in using my projects with the foobar2000 audio player.
I've been told that my reasons for parting with that project can now be distilled into one word: Politics.
Apparently, the fact that I am gay is not something that I've had to live with my entire life. Not something I was vaguely aware of from early single digit years, only becoming more overtly aware of as I reached puberty and was faced with the world's designs for me having a relationship with one person for the express purpose of producing offspring.
No, instead, I was "corrupted" by subversive influences, and if I am to remain as I am, I should just shut up and be "one of the good ones." That worked out really well for Milo. I guess it sort of did, since he got deported to his home country instead of a gulag. Or so I've heard.
I guess I could just be content to know that every field of the tech industry is full of assholes who hate everyone around them, especially people who are different from them.
Nah, I think I'll just continue burning bridges until there are none left. I'm happy to live in solitude, while they live in misery in islands of their own making. Of course, I'm not alone in this world. So they can just rest assured that I have no plans of dying by my own hands. That's not to say that their own brand of politics won't ever be the death of me. But I'd rather not have that outcome, either.
Anyway, I will not support foobar2000 components based on my libraries, but the licenses do not forbid anyone else from just shoving them into plugins there. I could slap on a license clause that requires host software to display a Pride Flag emoji somewhere, but then it wouldn't be Free Software any more. Much like it isn't Free Software if your operating system says that someone can't use it to make weapons of some sort.
